Vendemmia a Barolo — a 3-day weekend in Piedmont

19–21 September 2026. Barolo, Italy. 70 min from the airport.

The weekend, day by day

  1. Day 1

    Arrive in Barolo

Land at Turin Caselle Airport (TRN), settle in and walk the old town in the afternoon. Light dinner near your accommodation — save your appetite for the festival day.

  2. Day 2

    Vendemmia a Barolo

Festival day — arrive early to avoid the lunchtime crowd. Insider tip: Book cellar visits with smaller producers like Bartolo Mascarello or Poderi Luigi Einaudi weeks in advance—they open only during Vendemmia and pour unreleased barrel samples and older vintages unavailable commercially. Timing the palio procession (early evening) with a pre-dinner tasting at a family-run cantina in the village gives you the full harvest experience without the tourist bottleneck.

  3. Day 3

    Wine country day in Piedmont

Use the third day for a single winery visit (booked ahead) and a long lunch at one of the regional addresses below before heading home.

Where to stay

Three angles for the festival window. Festival hotels book out 6+ months in advance — apartments are the contingency when the main shortlist is sold out.

One winery worth a detour

Giuseppe Mascarello e Figlio

WTG pick

One of Barolo's last true traditionalists, producing monopole wines in a garage-sized cellar with zero marketing.
