Festa do Vinho Verde — a 3-day weekend in Minho

13–19 July 2026. Ponte de Lima, Portugal. 50 min from the airport.

The weekend, day by day

  1. Day 1

    Arrive in Ponte de Lima

Land at Porto Airport (OPO), settle in and walk the old town in the afternoon. Light dinner near your accommodation — save your appetite for the festival day.

  2. Day 2

    Festa do Vinho Verde

Festival day — arrive early to avoid the lunchtime crowd. Insider tip: Hunt for producers pouring their singular-vineyard Alvarinho bottlings—most show only here—and ask specifically for their zero-dosage versions, which are revelatory compared to commercial bottlings. The still wines from older vines are rarely exported; this is your only chance to taste them.

  3. Day 3

    Wine country day in Minho

Use the third day for a single winery visit (booked ahead) and a long lunch at one of the regional addresses below before heading home.

Where to stay

Three angles for the festival window. Festival hotels book out 6+ months in advance — apartments are the contingency when the main shortlist is sold out.

One winery worth a detour

Quinta do Ameal

The wine that proves Vinho Verde can be world-class — single-vineyard Loureiro from terraced riverside vineyards in a beautiful manor house setting.
