Wine Festivals in Washington 2026

Three festivals split between Walla Walla (the serious-red trip) and Woodinville (the weekend from Seattle).

Washington's three wine festivals are tightly clustered geographically: two in the Walla Walla Valley (Celebrate Walla Walla Valley Wine in June, Tri-Cities Wine Festival in November), and Woodinville Wine Country Weekend just east of Seattle (May). Combined they cover the state's two main wine destinations — Walla Walla for the serious red trip, Woodinville for the easy weekend from the city.

Celebrate Walla Walla is the one worth the flight: 100+ Walla Walla Valley wineries pour over a long weekend, and the town's downtown is walkable end-to-end so you don't need to plan logistics. Several of the allocation-only producers — Leonetti, Woodward Canyon, Long Shadows — open during the festival weekend, which is one of the few times of the year walk-in tasting at the cult names is even possible.

If you base in Walla Walla itself, hotels book out 4–6 months ahead — Marcus Whitman and Eritage are the splurge picks. Woodinville is a 30-minute drive from SeaTac airport and works well for couples doing a wine-and-city weekend with Seattle: Pike Place market and the Chihuly garden in the morning, Woodinville cellar doors in the afternoon. Chateau Ste. Michelle, DeLille and Mark Ryan are the names to start with there.

Insider Tips

Tri-Cities Wine Festival

Combine with a weekend winery tour through the Red Mountain and Horse Heaven Hills AVAs — both are within 30 minutes of Kennewick and feature some of Washington's most sought-after producers.

Celebrate Walla Walla Valley Wine

The Saturday masterclasses and Friday Vintage tasting at Long Shadows Vintners are the intellectual highlights. Book winemaker dinner tickets the moment they open — they sell out in hours.

Woodinville Wine Country Weekend

Rent a bike or arrange a shuttle — parking fills fast and the four districts are best navigated without driving. The Hollywood District has the highest concentration of boutique producers.

Washington Wine Festivals — Common Questions

When is Celebrate Walla Walla Valley Wine?
Early June — usually the first or second weekend of the month, four days of events. The headline weekend is Friday–Sunday, with industry-only events on the preceding Thursday. Check the official festival site for the exact 2026 dates (announced in late 2025). Hotels in Walla Walla itself book out 4–6 months ahead.
Is Walla Walla worth the trip from outside Washington?
Yes if you care about US Cabernet, Syrah or Bordeaux blends and want to taste at producers that don't ship outside the state. The valley has 100+ wineries, the downtown is walkable, and the seclusion means fewer tour buses than Napa. Fly into Walla Walla Regional Airport (direct from Seattle and Salt Lake) or drive 4–5 hours from Seattle or Portland — both are scenic but long.
What is the Woodinville Wine Country Weekend?
A May tasting event where Woodinville's 130+ urban wineries open at once across the downtown warehouse district. Most Woodinville producers source from Columbia Valley AVAs and bottle in town — it's the closest Seattle gets to a "wine country day trip" without driving 4 hours to Walla Walla. Passport tickets cover tastings at multiple wineries across the weekend.
