Bedrock Wine Co.
WTG PickAbout
Morgan Twain-Peterson MW has built Bedrock around a simple obsession: California's heritage vines. He sources Zinfandel, Carignane, Petite Sirah, and obscure field blends from pre-Prohibition vineyards — vines planted before 1920, some before 1900, farmed organically and dry-farmed as they always were. The family's own Bedrock Vineyard in Sonoma Valley dates to 1854 and holds some of California's oldest vines. The wines are the opposite of California-modern: earthy, complex, with an Old World structure that surprises tasters expecting extracted fruit bombs.
Why It's a Hidden Gem
The authority on California's forgotten grape heritage. Bedrock is recovering varieties most producers abandoned decades ago, and its Heirloom field blends offer flavours completely unlike anything else in Sonoma.
