Stony Hill Vineyard
About
Founded in 1943 by Fred and Eleanor McCrea on the slopes of Spring Mountain, Stony Hill is one of Napa Valley's oldest continuously operating family estates and a pioneer of cool-climate Chardonnay in California. The wines — Chardonnay, Riesling, and Gewurztraminer — are made in a restrained, Burgundian style that defies the prevailing Napa trend for opulence. Mailing-list allocation means most bottles never reach retail.
Why It's a Hidden Gem
One of Napa's oldest estates producing age-worthy, unoaked Chardonnay entirely off the tourist radar, sold mostly by mailing list.
